We sat down with our CEO, Dan Sullivan, Jr., to ask him a few fun questions about himself. What does the man at the helm of our 100-year-old family-owned company have to say about growing up in New England, his favourite sports and what's in his travel bag? Read on and get to know our CEO!

How has growing up in New England shaped your perspective on travel?

Growing up in New England is wonderful. Since it's such a small, diverse region, there are plenty of opportunities to take day or weekend trips to see the sights all in close proximity. No matter where you are in New England, you can get to the ocean, New York City or the mountains by driving for just a few hours. I love listening to music, hitting the road with my family, and see the foliage or covered bridges, old steeples and cobblestoned roads that make it such a quintessential setting. Really, it's the perfect backdrop for a road trip.

There's also something here for every season, like seeing New York City at Christmastime or driving to New Hampshire or Vermont to take in the autumn leaves. You can spend a day at the beach during the summer. Each destination also has great history, shopping, entertainment and cuisine. New Englanders are very fortunate. I'm glad to have grown up here and that my children and grandchildren have the advantage of living in a place with so much to explore right in their own backyard.

What do you like to do when you're not traveling?

When I'm not Travelling I like to watch sports. I'm a big Red Sox fan, but all the New England teams are great. I play baseball whenever I can and I always love spending time with my family.

How many miles do you travel a year?

I have never been able to figure that out. I travel 150 days a year all over the globe so I honestly don't have the time to think about it. I work with our sales, product and marketing teams on all the aspects that encompass our travel business so I'm always moving. Maybe one day I'll have the time to count the miles so I'll have to get back to you on that!

What is always in your travel bag?

My computer and anything that connects me to the world like extension cords and converters. I always make sure I have good walking shoes, an umbrella and a light raincoat. I plan ahead so that I'm prepared for anything. And I always have headphones and an iPod. I love listening to music. It makes a great soundtrack for the ever-changing views around me.

Stay tuned for next month as we talk to Dan about the countries that have changed the most over the course of his career.
