As we wrap up celebrating our centennial year, we spoke with our CEO, Dan Sullivan Jr., to talk about one of Collette's core values - Social Responsibility. What began as a mission to volunteer and support nonprofits around the world has grown into a guiding philosophy that touches every aspect of the company.

What does Social Responsibility Look Like at Collette?

The spirit behind our CSR efforts is embodied in the culture of our family business. It stems from my parents, Alice and Dan, and their individual commitment to our employees, the planet, and the community around us -both local and global. We have been dedicated to being good global citizens since the 1960's.

We are able to touch so many lives because our team is there to volunteer their time to help us make a positive impact on the world around us. Our employees share our values and help us carry out our mission every day. Our successes are proof that we can make a big impact if we all work together.

How did the One Million Meals Program perform?

We set a goal three years ago to serve one million meals by our 100th anniversary, this year. And we are so excited that we exceeded it by quite a lot. We gave 1.3 million meals. This was an effort that engaged our entire global workforce. They volunteered, sometimes packaging 50,000 meals in one afternoon. Not-for-profit partners like Rise Against Hunger and Edesia were also at the centre of this whole initiative, helping us send meals to some of the most worthy areas of the world. For all of us, working together on the global problem of hunger and being a part of its solution, was incredibly fulfilling. The campaign is wrapping up right now, though we plan to continue this kind of work.

Social responsibility really comes from the heart. Coming off our 100th anniversary , we are now more committed than ever to making sustainable and responsible travel a force for good and ensuring that we are always doing our part to be responsible in all that we do. That's why we are always ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work. It's a part of how we think every single day.
