We are actively monitoring the discussions in Congress over federal funding, and the potential impact on our tours visiting Federal Sites & National Parks across the United States.

Without an agreement between the House, Senate and White House, the government will shut down on Saturday September 30, 2023 at midnight. The impact to our Tours will be limited to those visiting some Federal Sites & National Parks across the country. Some states including Utah, Arizona and Colorado have indicated that they will provide the necessary funding to keep the National Parks operating. Other states are considering similar measures.

If we are unable to operate or your tour is altered due to the government shutdown, we will contact you directly prior to departure.

The massive Floriade Horticultural Expo is a six-month long celebration of everything that blooms, blossoms, and grows. Amsterdam has dedicated the 2022 event to thinking about sustainability in urban environments. Exhibitors from all over the world will travel to this celebration of flora, which only happens once every decade. But what exactly is the Floriade Horticultural Expo, and what can you expect if you go there?

Growing Green Cities

For six months in 2022, Almere, the “newest city in the Netherlands,” will become home to a massive display of horticulture. Here, you’ll be able to see exhibits about every aspect of growing plants, from flowers to vegetables, from fruits to forests. Every exhibit during the expo focuses on the main theme: Growing Green Cities. Floriade has decided to tackle a massive subject: as populations grow, how can the places we live affect the environment in a positive way? There are four sub-categories that address this: Greening the City, Feeding the City, Healthying the City and Energizing the City. “Inspiring gardens, conferences, workshops and exhibitions will be mixed with impressive attractions, surprising tasting sessions, art and culture,” says the Floriade website.

A Global Showcase
There will be a massive number of exhibits there, as vast and varied as the different plants they’re celebrating. Of course, there will be showcases of Dutch horticulture – it’s being held in the Netherlands, after all. The Netherlands is leading the charge into the future of “green” cities, and adapting how they live to incorporate sustainability into everyday life, even into architecture. There will also be displays of horticulture from around the world, where almost 40 different countries will be showing off their culture through all things green and growing. On top of that, there will be live music, shopping, cultural exhibitions, and more.

A Once-in-a-Decade Event
The Floriade Horticultural Expo is a promising look into the future, a joyful peek into other cultures, and a great view of the natural world – all through the lens of everything that is green and growing. You won’t want to miss it.
