Tour

There were not enough scheduled activities which resulted in a lot of down time. Also, there was too much time allotted for El Mercado and Hotel Emma. I think it was assumed that we would dine at both places which not everyone did There was more than adequate time to see the botanical gardens during the day and to view the holiday lights at night. We were offered the botanical gardens or the museum. We wished we could have done both. The included dinners were both excellent. Our tour guide was very personable. However, she did not consider her audience was senior citizens. She walked ahead and several had difficulty keeping up and could not hear her. Her directions were often unclear. The hotel was very nice. However, we had to wait over two hours to get into our rooms. Our room was not cleaned on one occasion, and we had to call the desk to get fresh towels. San Antonio and the Riverwalk were beautiful. We just wished we had seen and done more during our time there.

Every thing that Collette was was required to do was on time. Very nice personally and equipment. The tour guide was outstanding, could not asked for better. Don't ever send 1 male with 6 females again my ego was inflated almost to the breaking point. I am trying to think of one thing that I can complain about, can't fine one ..cannot think of one. GREAT TRIP. THANK YOU

I did another tour with Collette in October and the tour manager was excellent so my expectations were very high. Tour manager on previous trip found extra activities for us. He also printed out names of restaurants and extra activities for our free time. This is better than just saying it. The river boat trip might have been nice earlier in the trip vs the last night. I saw things the last night that I would have liked to visit during free time.

Overall tour experience was very good. Only less than average experience was the accommodations. Hotel undergoing renovation when we were there. Room's HVAC system didn't work when we arrived so needed to be repaired. The shower didn't work well at all and made a horrendous vibration noise when being used. The room was showing its age/dated. The included breakfast was OK and the location was great though.

I enjoyed all the sites we visited. Would have like to have spent more time in Fredericksburg. I spent an enjoyable time at one of the wineries tasting some very delicious wine and visiting with the hostess.

Did not include a tour of San Antonio to give us highlights of the city. A lot of time lunch time was rushed because you had a choice of eating or shopping. With wait staff the way it currently is eating takes longer than usual.

It was so organized and covered all the major attractions. Just a pure Joy. I would say doing trips for 35 years and with Louisa who was by far best tour guide I would rate this trip in my top 3. I plan on doing another one of these tours next fall 2023

From the moment we got picked up at our home to the actual time there in San Antonio everything was great. Merrin even went out of her way to make sure I got a different meal that I would eat. She made it very enjoyable the entire time.

Most of the tours were very good and had excellent guides. I just wasn't impressed with the one we had for the Alamo. She didn't do anything wrong I just thought it could have been better. The best part for me was touting the LBJ ranch due to it's historical meaning. I wish we could have gone inside but I understand the reasons we couldn't.

The trip to San Antonio was great. Everything was timed perfectly. Pick up times were right on. Our tour guide was great. The sites we saw were fun and interesting. From the Riverwalk ride to the visit to the Olive orchard, all was was planned. Our tour guide was fun and very informative.Travel arrangements were spot on. I would definitely consider traveling with Collette again.

Seamless service from home to airport and return. Merrin Chilvers was waiting at baggage claim upon arrival at San Antonio and driver brought us right to our hotel. The Omni La Mansion was fantastically located on the Riverwalk but the water was cold and you had to run it for five minutes before it was warm enough to shower. I wasn't very happy about having to walk through the parking garage from the lobby to get to my room. Merrin was an excellent guide and always pleasant and helpful. Paul, our driver, was also very nice. Dinner at the restored convent was excellent, farewell dinner at the olive orchard was adequate. For me, the limo service is a big reason why I choose Collette. I would like to say, however, that the single supplement is very costly.

This hotel breakfast was not very goo, you had to ask for fruits ,cold cereal, yogurt. Almond milk, no hot cereal was on the buffet . The river walk was ok not what I expected. The tour guide did not give us enough time to shop at the Mercado market we only had 1 hour to shop and eat lunch. A lot of my fellow travelers including myself was upset with that, The tour guide was very kind and pleasant but the trip itself, I did not enjoy very much.

Also the last morning b4 leaving breakfast was not included. I felt for what you charged for the trip should have included all meals included breakfast, lunch & dinners. The Mexican market was a joke. Almost every stall was a repeat of what they were offering. It would have been better if you had offered time to shop @ the Pearl mall. Too much walking.

The tour guides were excellent and the places we visited were so interesting. The group was friendly, and it was good from the time I got there until I was taken to the airport to leave.

From start to finish, Collette was great. Having a driver pick us up in Oneonta and take us to Albany was a very big plus, as well as back home. I was Very disappointed n Collette when we departed so early we didn't get breakfast at hotel we were told our credit card would have a $20.00 credit ($10.00 each) well good luck trying to get anything at the airport for $10.00!!!!) The location of the hotel was wonderful. We really appreciated the trips out of town to LBJ Ranch, Sandy Oaks etc. as we couldn't have done these on our own without a car. The only suggestion I can make for improvement is that a map would have been most useful when we were dropped of in the Botanical Garden, and Fredericksberg as several people got lost in both locations - us included.

We had a wonderful trip, saw lots of things, learned a lot about the history and culture in the area (never had that in school). Food was great and tours were good and well planned. We had an excellent tour guide and driver. Tour guide knew everything about the area! We had a river front room and had to switch because it was so loud, but the courtyard room was fine, and we got a call back yesterday about the credit going on our Visa.

You served us basically the same meal -- a Texas ranch dinner -- twice in three days. The first dinner was superb. The second dinner was so-so. The second dinner was in a barn with a steel ceiling. All our voices bounced off the ceiling, so we could barely hear each other even though we were shouting at the top of our lungs. It was cruel and unusual punishment and we couldn't wait to get out of there to walk around and enjoy all the wildflowers in bloom. The second dinner was at an olive farm and olive oil factory. We seemed to just stand around a lot waiting for something to happen. We've been to other olive oil production plants (e.g. Queen Creek Olive Oil) in Phoenix, AZ. There we learned tons of stuff about what to learn for when buying olive oil. Everything else about the trip was spectacular. San Antonio is a fabulous city with so much to see and do. And Collette got us to places that would have been hard for us to get to unless we had rented a car and studied maps or loaded a GPS. So absolutely everything was great except for the visit to the olive farm and factory. We are now planning our next tour with Collette.

The tour itself and tour Director were excellent. The only complaint I had was the Optional tour to the Pearl District and dinner. The cost of the tour was $90.00 per guest. It certainly was not worth the cost. Maybe $50.00 would be a fair price. Our local guide Mickey was very informative and did a very good job. The dinner at the Culinary Institute was fair. The staff did not seem very organized and the dinner was very skimpy. We had a little problem with our room and the door not locking properly, but the Omni Mansion del Rio was lovely and a great location. All in all - we enjoyed the tour (in spite of the very cold first two days)! All the sites we were taken to were great! Cheryl Hollingsworth

The rodeo was very good, but the entertainment (if you can call it that) was horrendous. We should have been taken out of there before it started as that kind of horrific noise is not music to our age group.

I am a tour group leader and have used the services of Collette for almost 20 years. This trip to San Antonio was perfectly scheduled to see everything you would want to see, plus plenty of free time to explore on your own. We encountered a lot of rain and the tour manager and coach driver were diligent in finding things to do and places to go.

I thought the time spent in Fredericksburg was waisted on me as I am not interested in a shopping spree. I found both the Briscoe Museum of Western Art and the Buckhorn Saloon/Museum extremely interesting and should be part of your package. I also feel a rodeo, Western music venue or the nearby caverns would be more a Texas adventure I would enjoy telling my eastern neighbors about.

Being from Texas, seeing the Alamo once again. Was there in 1984 with my wife for the Hemis-Fair. Did not feel that the Fredericksburg time was adequate for eating and seeing the WWII MUseum. The Witte Museum was very well done, informative and nicely arranged exhibits. The Sandy Oaks Olive Ranch was interesting and a breath of fressh Texas air. Even Bluebonnets which are hard to find.

Our flights changed at the last minute. So we arrived a little later than most of the other travelers. The tour guides worked together very well to make sure we got to the hotel safely and in a timely manner. One of the Collette guides that was not ours made sure to get us a taxi and got us safely to our destination. The entire time we felt that we were well taken care of. We have been traveling with different companies over the last 20 or so years (Tauck, Globus, Collette) and we were well satisfied with everything.

I would take another tour with Collette. The tour guide was great and attentive. The hotel was good and so was the food at the hotel. The places visited were enjoyable and interesting. Perhaps the Ranch dinner extra tour, which was cancelled, could have been substituted for something else that would have been memorable. This way there was nothing. Also, the visit to the coservatory was short as there were few flowers etc. to admire. Others went to a wonderful museum. Perhaps these two things could be combined so all can enjoy both. Timing would be ok, I think.

Really liked the Alamo. Also was surprised how much we enjoyed and learned about the LBJ Ranch tour. Not one of my favorite presidents, but very interesting. A better choice could have been made for dinner than the Asian fusion restaurant. Something more appropriate to the Texas culture would have been more desirable.

The tour guide was not great. When you arrived later than the start of the tour which was known we were even greeter by the guide. Then we asked where the ice cream was in the tour we were visiting which had famous ice cream, the answer was "down the street"..Really!!!! How unfriendly could that be...then there was overflow on the tour and they change our first day so we started at 6:30AM and didn't get back until 9:30PM...they needed to tell us that because we wanted to see the river fiesta parade that day..she had no personality...when people who needed walkers went to the mission, instead of helping them, the other group members did...went to Michigan on Collette last year which is why we chose them again...Extremely disappointed...could have done it myself and not pay the money for the tour--

Great trip.However would have like to know that there was a lady traveling alone because I was traveling single .We happened to find each other on the last travel day...Of coarse it was only a five day trip...We could have had dinner when there was no dinner option planned...All in all....Good trip! The tour was good, but the tour director wasn't as friendly as the ones I've had in the past - she gave us lots of good info and you could tell she loved her work. I felt there was too much riding on the bus for such a short trip. Really enjoyed seeing the sights of the city ad surrounding area. Hotel was great, as it backed onto the canal.

Hotel in a perfect location and side trips good. Reception should have been hardier snacks or small meal so people could have got to know each other better a little longer. Mexican dips etc. did not sit well with older people who are not used to eating those kinds of snacks. After traveling all day some were too tired to go out to eat afterwards. Tour guide was very knowledgeable of San Antonio. Driver extremely helpful and friendly. Collette have always served me well on past trips and I will probably use them again.

The San Antonio tour was very well planned and included visits to the major sights that we wanted to see and experience, like: The Alamo, LBJ Ranch, Fredericksburg, Bandera where we enjoyed a traditional cowboy barbecue. Highlights of our trip were the hayride and line dancing which were a lot of fun. We found the people of San Antonio very nice and friendly. Needless to say the River Walk, with its many restaurants, was delightful.

I really enjoyed traveling with Collette. The sedan service to and from the airport was a welcome inclusion of the tour. Jackie, our tour guide, was excellent. She was very knowledgable about the area, and was very helpful with suggestions about things to do on free time. I had to leave early for airport for flight home ,and missed the included breakfast. I was surprised and glad to receive a check from Collette reimbursing me for this missed breakfast. What a pleasant surprise!

The tour was excellent , and was mostly well paced. I did think we spent a little too much time in Fredericksburg. I especially liked the LBJ ranch. We got to see the LBJ White House , where he spent most of his time during his presidency. It was wonderful! I also particularly liked the Texas barbecue at the Mayan Ranch. The food was great! Our visit to the olive ranch was all right, but I would have preferred to go somewhere else of interest. The coach driver, Paul, was excellent, and provided bottled water to drink on the ride. He and Jackie worked well together, and provided a fun atmosphere throughout the tour. Overall, it was a great experience!
