Tour Activity Level
The activity level for this tour:
At a very leisurely pace, this tour involves minimal physical activity, such as climbing some stairs, boarding a motorcoach, and walking from the hotel reception area to hotel rooms and dining areas.
This tour requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestoned streets.
This tour includes moderate physical activity. The itinerary blends some longer days with shorter days and more leisure time. Walking tours, as well as walking slightly longer distances, up stairs or on uneven walking surfaces should be expected.
To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as longer walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs and periods of standing. Some of the touring days may be longer, with select included activities occurring later in the evening.
This tour is very active, requiring participants to be physically fit to fully enjoy all the experiences. This itinerary has more strenuous activities which may include such things as: extensive walking tours, transfers over uneven and dusty terrain, high altitudes, early morning departures, late night activities, or extreme temperatures. All conditions do not apply to all days, so please read the itinerary carefully and speak to one of our travel counselors to determine if this tour is right for you. We recommend this program to individuals who are physically fit. Unfortunately, this tour is not appropriate for individuals who use either walkers or wheelchairs. If this trip is not ideally suited for you, our travel counselors can help determine the perfect trip for you.

-
ServiceA very well-planned trip, as usual. Hotels were great, especially Cedar Creek in Montana. Glacier Park was beautiful. Loved the Jammers. Loved the Dude ranches, especially the Boundary Ranch. We also love being driven to and from the airport on your trips. Big plus. Krouse Travel helped us a lot too. Thanks for more happy memories.

ServiceTour was great. The long bus days were to be expected with sights long distances away. The hotels were great. Would have liked longer times at Glacier National park to eat at lodge or just take in the park. Stampede was awesome! Small tour group so many friendships were made. Did not like red eye flight home from Calgary!
-
TourTour was great. A lot of bus time but realize sights were spread out over miles. Would have liked more time at Glacier National Park lodge for lunch or just relaxing at the lake. Hotels were nice. Banff is just breath taking! Immensely enjoyed our days there! Did NOT like the red eye home from Calgary!

ServiceYou can tell the customer that the conditions are bad in the canadian rockies and montana , due to fires and smoke conditions through out. They should be able to warn the customer has these conditions are prevalent for the previous 2 months and they should warn them so they can postpone or cancel that particular trip.

Good execution of a flawed itinerary
-
ServiceGreat group and great tour guide. Poor logistics that meant a lot of time sitting on the bus for lengthy drives. FIRSt day ofnour tour was a total waste--should have flown into the first destination in Montana instead of flying to Alberta and spending a day driving to Montana.
-
TourSite says we're beautiful. But, again, poor planning for the tour and too many long bus rides. Would have liked the opportunity to hike in Glacier and in the Banff area

ServiceGreat Trip! Loved our guide (*******) and driver (*******). Both were super professional and personable. They both had stories to share and made the trip more than just a sightseeing adventure. Note: there is a lot of "coach time" .... meaning you sit quite a bit as this trip covers about 1400 miles in less than a week. My favorite parts were the tour of Glacier National Park in the "Jammers" and visiting the Columbia Icefields (aka glacier) in Jasper. Walking on a glacier and experiencing it firsthand was AMAZING!
-
TourOur guide (*********) and driver (********) were what set this trip to another level of excellence.

Too much time in bus & not enough time in beautiful Banff and Lake Louise
-
ServiceI would if the trip traveled differently. We were in the bus too much. This was not clear by the explanation of the trip. We spent 2 days in the bus Because of that only a few hours was spent in Lake Louise. Would have never chosen the itinerary of the description included two days in a bus. There are parts of glacier national much closer to Canada Also I called and said I was an active 60 and wanted to travel with like activity level. The average age was 75 and sedentary Jovanka the tour leader made the trip for me! She is fabulous
-
TourI liked the tour leader ***** and would travel with her again Loved Canada lake Louise and Banff
-
-
My third trip with Collette was especially great at the ice fields.
-
ServiceI especially liked the limousine service to and back from the airport! All info on the trip was excellent especially our guide who was so informative about the places we traveled through--his info on Canada was great. Our bus driver was so helpful about my walker. My only complaint was that we had a difficult time in Vancouver airport--my ticket should have had handicap. Frustrating airport! But all my rooms had a handicap bath--just great. I appreciated the personal touches of Collette for those of us who are handicapped. Looking forward to another trip. I am working on a photo book of this trip.
-
TourHelpful from home to tour and back. Our tour guide was so informative and took care of all changes. This is my 3rd tour with you and all were just excellent. Will send picture in the mail--I took many pictures and our guide was aware of this and helped me although I am handicapped.

Great experience; too much bus time
-
ServiceThis is a very professional organization that uses the best service providers -- buses, hotels, etc. The tour manager and bus driver were top notch and the locations we went were the places you want to be. My one criticism, and the reason it wasn't 5 stars for me, is that there was too much time on the bus. I did not realize ahead of time that there would be so much time getting from place to place.
-
TourWe loved all the places we visited, just didn't enjoy all the bus time.
-
-
-
Pretty darned good!
-
ServiceYou chose especially fantastic sites / sights to see and visit, starting with the Calgary Stampede (what a hoot). The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel was a special treat -- we lived like the top 1% does for THOSE 3 nights: loved the warm wonderful ambience of the hotel's candelabras, antique furniture, low lights, and other decor; food was mostly A-1, service by the many delightful young people with a smile, friendly, willing, over-the-top. We lucked out with beautiful weather, making the Road-to-the Sun at Glacier especially spectacular. The Canadian Rockies seen on the way to Jasper for the coup de grace, standing on an iceberg!, were equally awesome! Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable -- learned a lot -- and certainly delivered the itinerary promised, but left something to be desired. Personality-wise, she lacked warmth and humor. When I learned of her background, though, I understood, and cut her some slack. Door-to-door pickup to/from the airports was especially appreciated. I'll do it that way on my own if I fly again. Two disappointments: not being permitted to stay for the Indian show at Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo Jump -- we Easterners rarely have an opportunity to see real live Indians in their beautiful ornate regalia, etc. -- and the final dinner being in a noisy restaurant instead of a private room.
-
TourSee previous remarks. I'd add that the outdoor grilled dinner at a real live Montana ranch was a special experience, although the food could have been better, and they had no ice for drinks, which was odd and actually kind of ruined it for me. I like my drinks ice cold.

ServiceI have taken many tours with other companies. But never have had tour manager that keeps the passengers upset with her rude remarks and unprofessional behavior. This trip was alot of money to pay for someone to insult you. I will never take another trip with this company or recommend to others. The travel planning could have been better. I know getting tickets to stampede controlled some of it. It seems like it would have been better to have gone from Calgary to Banff and then Banff to Glacier Park in Montana. The 2 days of travel from Canada to Montana and back again were tight days to maintain schedule. The manager became stressed if schedule became tight or off on time. She then tended to take it out on passengers. Never experienced anything like it. It is hard to write it down but would be willing to talk with someone. The last 2 days of trip she was very pleasant but by then you really did not want anything to do with her. She talked about how many years she has done tours. She should have been better to handle stress. Instead she throws a fit in dining establishment and said she was going home and the heck with all of us. My sister made a comment that she was surprised with the warm temps in Canada. Your manager then said she was sick of prejudice people. We are still wondering about that statement. Then the bus driver said he was tired of people not knowing about the Canadian Provences. My sister told him she didn't know a lot about Canada and that was why she was visiting. She told him if he had any questions about orthopedic surgery she would be happy to answer them. I actually thought they didn't care for Americans. Many of others thought the same.
-
TourThe sights were beautiful in Montana and Canada. Was disappointed with not seeing bears but with very warm temps they were staying deep in woods. Not something you can control. Riding in the Jammers at Glacier Park was fun.

TourI think we stayed in the bus tour section of the hotel in Bamff. Seeing the bear with cubs from the ski lift was special. The Canadian Rockies were spectacular. The bus driver and host were very good. I suggest the tour in September when the areas are not as crowded.

Excellent tour, excellent guide and excellent driver
-
ServiceWe were met at the airport in a timely manner. Our guide was excellent as was the bus driver. The tour schedule was good and we saw all that was described in the ad. We all enjoyed the chair lift at Lake Louise and those who went on the helicopter ride were very pleased with the service and views of the rockies and glaciers. I would and have recommended Collette and plan to travel again with them. The only thing I missed was the welcome dinner but I understand that it was not possible due to airline schedule of arrivals.
-
TourBetween the helicopter ride and the gondola ride it would be hard to choose.

Fantastic trip to the Canadian Rockies. Great scenery and accommodations.
-
ServiceI have been on several Collette Tours and have always enjoyed them immensely. When we first booked this tour we thought it was a bit pricey for a five day tour (total of seven days with travel days on each end of the tour). However, we were very impressed with the accommodations and think the slightly higher cost was worth the price. The only downside to the entire trip was flying Air Canada. We wished Collette would have known and informed us of Air Canada's policy about reserved seats on their flights. During our flights from Toronto to Calgary and from Calgary to Toronto, some of our party were scattered all over the aircraft in individual seats and not sitting with their spouses. This was disappointing not being able to fly with our husbands and wives. Also, and this is totally out of Collette's control, is the "pain" of going through the Toronto Airport. It is an extremely busy airport and some the the processes of going through Canadian and U.S. Customs are very confusing and cumbersome. I would suggest if you plan to take this trip fly to Calgary from Minneapolis, MN or Denver, CO or Seattle, WA via a U.S. based airline. I think this is something Collette should suggest or at least offer as an option to future travelers.

TourI have been on several Collette Tours and have always enjoyed them immensely. When we first booked this tour we thought it was a bit pricey for a five day tour (total of seven days with travel days on each end of the tour). However, we were very impressed with the accommodations and think the slightly higher cost was worth the price. The first hotel in Calgary, the Downtown Weston, was a very nice hotel and they provided a very nice buffet breakfast. The second hotel, The Prince of Wales Hotel, Waterton, Alberta, Canada, was extremely picturesque and quaint and we enjoyed the hotel and scenery very much. We had no issues with the fact that there is no TV or self-operated elevator in the hotel. They hotel is a National Historic Site and they are attempting to maintain it's 1920's and 30's era hotel. The second hotel, the Fairmont in Banff, Alberta, Canada was very, very impressive and we had a top notch, three night stay. During our entire stay, including room, meals, lounge and hotel staff we were constantly pleased with the professionalism and helpfulness of all the staff at the "Castle of the Rockies." I strongly suggest if you stay at this hotel take the time to walk around and "get lost" in the majesty of the hotel. The excursions were all very, very interesting and educational. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Lake Louise, Bow Lake, Lake Moraine, riding in the "Red Cars" to Sun Mountain, walking on the glacier, riding the ski lift, visiting Waterton and Banff and seeing the majestic Canadian Rockies as we drove to all the scenic locations. Our tour guide, Geoffery, was very knowledgeable and helpful during the entire trip. He even went out of his way to help us get a table for six one night at dinner and we were very thankful for his attention to detail. During our trip we saw bears, bald eagles, long horn sheep and ground squirrels. Friendly and Efficient Service
-
ServiceService was always courteous and efficient on the few occasions I needed to call.
-
TourThis was my first Collette tour, but I hope it won't be my last. I think I got good value and inclusion for the dollars paid for this trip. It was a dream of mine to return to some of the spots I had visited 49 years ago. The Banff Springs Hotel had always been a dream of mine, and those accommodations and the overall atmosphere did not disappoint. All of their employees were so courteous and made us feel like welcome guests. I gave the accommodations rating only as "good" due to the less than spectacular experience at the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton. It is a fine old building, but the room accommodations were sparse at best and some of the hotel employees were less than friendly. Too bad! Overall, the scenery was spectacular and all the local guides and drivers were exceptional! Wonderful memories! Thanks, Collette.

Very enjoyable. Would like a little activity so not quite as sedentary.
-
ServiceI thoroughly enjoyed my Canadian Rockies and Glacier National Park tour. The guide was great! I didn't realize I would receive such a history lesson and it was fantastic. My only suggestion would be to try to have a couple of options for people who want a little more activity, like available moderate hiking trails, etc. A couple of days were pretty sedentary.
-
TourLake Louise was so beautiful and we had the ability to enjoy a long walk around the lake.

Never Again
-
ServiceOur tour leader and driver were excellent and provided ample information related to what we were seeing. I resented being taken to a jewelry store to learn about the local fossil product with the obvious intent of making sales. For reasons described below, I would never take another Collette tour.
-
TourToo much time spent on bus. Most of the meals provided on the trip were not very good. The accommodations for the farewell dinner were particularly bad -- in a noisy restaurant/bar with no separate room for a group of 44. Our room in Banff was over the air conditioning equipment so we couldn't open our windows which would have eliminated the need to run air conditioning and our rooms definitely lacked good views. The Prince of Wales hotel should never be used except to view the site and the architecture. The weather was outstanding and I really enjoyed walking around Lake Louise which should not have required an additional charge. The trip up the chairlift was pleasant but totally unnecessary. It would have been nice to have had a boat trip on the lake when we were in Waterton. We had to leave the hotel in Banff for our return flight before the restaurant opened. No provision was made for a "box breakfast" to take with us. Although bottles of water were in a cooler on the bus, we were asked to pay $1.00 for them. I have been on other tours where there was never any charge. In short, I felt that Collette skimped on providing amenities and I will never take another Collette tour.

-
I was pleased with the over all tour but my personal interest were not achieved because of logistics.
-
ServiceCollette, offers a very user friendly approach and professional team while on tour. The driver was excellent at his job, our tour guide is a superior host. Our tour guide, had an extensive knowledge of the area and worked very well to make every detail perfect. Now what could be improved might be in logistics for viewing this pristine area. Far too many times we arrive at high sun and the harsh light destroys the natural beauty. I realize travel and accommodating a vacation like attitude is important but the first 3 hours or more of the day are wasted on food and travel...Also, the last 4 plus hours place the traveler in a beautiful hotel outside the quaint villages demanding transportation to enjoy...I enjoy sharing these experiences with my wife but also love to photograph the beauty but this is not possible on this type of tour...The lodging for the most part exceeds our needs and looks great in the sales brochure.

Canadian Rockies & Glacier Nat'l Park Coach Tour
-
ServiceMy wife and I have been on a number of wonderful coach tours over the last 10 years. This was our first trip with Collette. We both agree that Collette was superior overall in each category. The weather was perfect and the itinerary fantastic. Our tour guide, was excellent with her descriptions of sites, keeping us informed, courtesy, and especially with her patience with each and every passenger. In 1984 I went on a European coach tour and that tour guide was my favorite tour guide until I met *personal details removed by Feffo*. There is always wonderful itinerary on every tour, but what makes the real difference is always the Tour Guide. Our tour quide is why we ranked this Collette tour #!, because of Sarah.

Great trip, totally satisfied and will definitely recommend Collette tours.
-
ServiceIt was an excellent tour. Everything was well done by the Collette and the tour director and our bus driver was great. Beautiful scenery, unique accommodations, and good choices for meals provided by Collette. I would highly recommend this tour. Our tour director was very knowledgeable and personable. The only thing that I would have liked more of is the bus stopping for pictures along the way. So many of my pictures of beautiful scenery had to be taken out of the bus and all had reflection of the bus on them.
-
TourThe scenery was just beautiful. I loved the hotels we stayed at, so unique. I enjoyed all the sights that were on the tour. Each had its own distinct beauty and story.
