While just about any month is great to visit London, there are a few prime times of year worth considering. Here’s what to expect, according to our destination experts:
Spring: London is busy during any time of year. As temperatures grow milder in March through May, the city comes out of its shell. Temperatures average from mid-40s°F (around 7°C) to mid-60s°F (about 18°C), making for pleasant strolls through London’s historic neighborhoods.
Summer: London from June to August is as popular a time as any. It’s a great time of year to enjoy London’s beautiful parks, catch outdoor performances, and explore London markets. Summer can get hot and humid, with average temperatures in the mid-70s°F (around 24°C). Remember, this is England, so always be prepared for rain, even during the best weather. In August, many locals take vacations, making major cities like London calmer and quieter.
Fall: Visit in late September to October to explore London’s pub life, thriving theater scene, and parks ablaze with autumn colors. London’s popularity never wanes, so you’ll never miss out on the lively cosmopolitan scene and people watching is always stellar. The weather is cooler, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-60s°F (around 19°C) to mid-40s°F (about 7°C).
Winter: Enjoy a festive atmosphere in London during the December holidays! Visit London’s Christmas markets, see Harrods all decked out for the season with twinkling lights and garland, or walk in a winter wonderland in Hyde Park. Be sure to pack your festive sweaters and a warm waterproof coat.

Susan Orr was the worst tour guide I have ever had. She was so rude to me and the group. She blamed everything that she did wrong on Collette. It was so embarrassing When I meet here at the airport I said hi Susan I’m Linda and she said oh and shredded her shoulders. If I tried to count people on bus she told me to sit down and if they were not there she said she was leaving them she lost people on trip 3 times because if you asked her again what time to meet bus she said I told you on the bus yesterday. She was out to make Collette look bad. These were all my great Collette clients and great friends. I have had the most fantastic tour guide this year. John on Ireland Marc on islands of New England and George on Greece and Evonka on Canadian Rockies. She complained about everything. My over all of Susan Orr was she was just a mean person. Please take her off your list. I would never want a group to experience this. A tour guide can ruin a trip So sorry. If I had not gone I think it would have been even worse Every morning I said to her at breakfast good morning Susan and she never answered me until the last morning. I tried to be nice to her but it was impossible I asked for John Barton for your guide in this trip and I was told I could not ask. I didn’t d not ask again because every Collette tour guide has been outstanding until now.

Our tour guide’s name was Kim she was not organized. She didn’t want to use the headset where we could hear her talking. There were 40 people in our group and she was at the front so most people couldn’t hear what she was talking about. She left to elderly people, husband and wife probably about their 80s, we were supposed to meet at a certain point at 2:30. She said we are leaving. Someone said the people weren’t there yet and she said they’ll find their way we took a bus back to our hotel. She did not seem concerned at all that they were not on the bus with us , my sister-in-law and I saw Kim later and said have you seen the couple that we left and she said no they’re probably here. No concern at all. Ended up a couple waited for 30 minutes the woman had had to use the restroom so they weren’t there right at 2:30 so Kim decided just to leave them and they had to take a taxi I believe back to the hotel Pretty much our whole group was very upset with her another incident a young man was with his grandparents he was probably 1415 he was at the hotel and we were in front of the hotel and she said let’s start walking and somebody mentioned that the young man was in the hotel and she said oh he can catch up he did eventually catch up but we had to look for him to make sure he found us. I feel like Kim is in the wrong business. Thank you.

We paid our own entrance fee even though the Kensington Palace fee was included in the cost of the tour. We thought it was changed because the Churchill War Room was closed. Also the hotel was very close to the Tower Hill subway station, so we could get anywhere in London by using the tube. My family was very appreciative of the wonderful breakfast buffet that was offered every morning at the hotel.
I was very happy with the care and concern Astrid, our tour guide, showed us. She was very professional, friendly, and open to all questions and discussions. "Spotlight on London" was a great first international travel trip for us. The tour guide, Jonny, was born in London so he knew what he was talking about and where to go. With his help, we learned how to navigate the "Tube" so even when we stayed a few days after the tour was over, we felt like we could do it, and we did. We're older, so feeling safe was important to us, and we did. We walked a lot, saw many interesting places and took far too many pictures. We hit the highlights (Windsor castle, Westminister Abbey, Tower of London, etc) and it was just enough. Be sure to stop by the churches and take a look around inside. Many have stood for 1,000 years! Take the Uber boat over the Greenwich and tour the Cutty Sark. The food was good, even the mushy peas! We were surprised by the familiar fast food places; McDonald's, KFC, Krispy Kreme donuts, Starbucks, etc. Our stay at the Double Tree Tower of London was excellent! The staff there is amazing! Rachid was a jewel! Flights were good - just long! Heathrow is like a city by itself. Our transportation to/from the hotel was very good. Very informative drivers. Taxi cab was fun. The highlight of our trip though, was seeing "Les Mis" at the Sondheim theater!! "Tina" was good also, but "Les Mis" was the highlight.

I loved this Spotlight in London tour. My most memorable experience was viewing the King's ceremony at Windsor Castle and catching a glimpse of King Charles III. I have a video and picture of King Charles III. The distance from the ceremony was far making pictures and videos hard to be clear. I saw him walking in front of the guardsmen in a long navy flock coat. I immediately recognized him and his walk. The whole tour was fabulous, but this was one big highlight.

This tour was fantastic!! While there never seems to be enough time to see and do everything on vacations, this tour was great in that it made sure we saw all the must-see attractions in London (Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace (including the Changing of the Guard Ceremony), the Tower of London (Crown Jewels), Greenwich, etc.). The optional excursion to Windsor Castle is also most certainly worth doing!! The itinerary was very well organized, the details and logistics of getting us around town were mostly seamless, we had a great variety of very knowledgeable tour guides, and our tour manager was superb, always handy with fun facts, helpful information, and recommendations! There was a healthy mix of tour activities and free time to explore on your own, and everyone in our group was very friendly. We did not want to go home after the tour concluded... that's how much fun we had. :) Would highly recommend!!!!

This was mine & my best friend's first time traveling with Collette, and it will not be our last! From beginning to end, everything was easy and very organized! Our tour guide was awesome! Very friendly and very knowledgeable about his home country. I'm so glad that the places we went (Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Tower of London, etc) were included because that hit every attraction I would have checked off if I had planned it all myself. Only I didn't have to plan it all myself, and I'm so grateful to Collette for that! I loved that I was able to get recommendations & guidance from the concierges at the hotel AND John (our tour guide) as well. We ended up having one of our favorite meals because of John. My own small personal feedback is that I thought we had too much free time, but I know that not everyone feels that way, and in all honesty I wouldn't change a thing about this tour. Thank you for an amazing time that I'll be talking about for years to come!

They are 5 star guides vetted by Collette so you know they will be good. It's awkward and in this cash free world we live in it can be a challenge to have the appropriate amount of cash handy.

Thank you.
