It was nice to stay in one hotel and not have to pack to stay at other locations. Since our visits to small towns were in depth and well narrated by local guides, our visit to Florence felt like it didn't belong on this trip. Big city, lots of people and waiting lines, and tho I visited the Ponte Vecchio bridge 40+ years ago, I was dismayed that we just looked at it from across the river, but didn't get to visit. If people want to see David, let that be on a different trip. Your Tuscany trip shouldn't include it.

All was very good - Collette did a great job in all aspects of the tour and I would probably use them again should I choose group travel. I will of course recommend them to anyone wishing to travel in a group. Hard to pick a favorite because I loved it all - the cooking class was the most fun, Loved Lucca and Sienna (smaller towns - less people) the Cinque Terra trip was memorable because of the frenzie of the train travel....too many people for me and only saw 2 of the 5 villages. Florence would have liked to have seen other museums and the Porta Vecchio bridge - but too many people....The business class upgrade opportunity was wonderful and I would do that again.

As for my overall experience, I was very disappointed. When I booked this tour, I believed the group size was only 24 people and that they would all be seniors. Instead you added more groups so there were over 40 people. That size is way too big! Also, in trying to find a hotel to accommodate that many people led to a substandard room. We had to stay for 8 days in a room that was horrible! The shower was LITERALLY 2 feet by 2 feet. I could not bend to get everything washed. This is not acceptable for a senior person. In addition, our room was on the street side where there were 2 restaurants that played loud music until late in the night. Horrible experience. Unfortunately, this overshadowed all the wonderful things that I experienced.

Again, not impressed with the tour manager. Missed several items on the tour that had been advertised as doing. The leather shop was closed since we went on Saturday. We didn't get to have the tour by boat to Cinque Terme since the weather was bad in the morning - should have delayed it by a few hours and didn't get to have the stop for appetizers and drinks as advertised. The tour manager was not flexible to adjust with weather when we could have had free time in the morning instead of the evening. He rushed us all the time on tour threatening not to give us a bathroom break. There were many things on the tour he should've told us that we had to find out on our on after the fact such as we could have used our train ticket to use the bathroom for free and we could have used the ticket for the cathedral to climb the tower for free. We were rushed through our end of tour dinner. He was in a hurry to get to his vacation with "friends". He didn't help anyone off the bus or get bags. He had us load our bags on the bus to depart. The hotel was ok. The water in the shower was either scalding or freezing. The food was ok for breakfast - same stuff everyday. The welcome dinner was poor. The tour day for Cinque Terme should have been included in the tour not an add on since there was nothing else scheduled for the day - just had to pay more!

To me that is unacceptable. Then in Paris another long layover. Seems like you treated us like 3rd class citizens. We ALL should have been on the layover that was less than 2 hours in Atlanta.
The brochure for the option Rome at night was not what was described. Luckily, Ciblia mentioned it was a meal and entertainment, no lights by night We were able to cancel; however, it was not what was advertised.

That morning we were told that that would not be included in the evening out, which was the main reason we signed up. We were told we could opt out and get reimbursed. Hopefully we will get reimbursed! Also, 5 1/2 hour layover in Paris was brutal, after a 3 1/2 hr layover in ATL. We had more layover time than flight time! Highlights were Cinqueterra tour, Roman Coloseum, Vatican, Pisa.

One day we took a short train ride to the Cinque Terre and walked around two villages. And on the ride to the train saw stacks of Carrara marble waiting for shipment and the mountains where Carrara marble comes from. We toured Pisa and took pictures of each other trying to push it upright! Also, we had several delicious meals in the country and even made our own pasta! Wonderful tour, fabulous tour guide and auxiliary guides, fabulous hotel accommodations. I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Only 1 caveat: the tour I went on was marked as level 3 walking but it was much more intense than that. I think for most Americans/Canadians who get into our vehicles or onto public transportation, while many Europeans, who live in both towns or cities, walk and walk and walk and walk, the level of walking was a bit daunting. You might want to change the walking level advisory on this particular tour to a level four. Other than that, everything and everyone was wonderful.

All great memorable tours depend on the tour manager. Marco was phenomenal. I liked the varied of tours each day. We never felt hurried or limited to a certain time. The favorite part was the evening spent on the farm learning to cook a meal.
My only criticism would have been to have been warned before signing up for this time period that May 1st was a national holiday. The crowds were intense especially in the towns of Cinque Terra .

Too many great sights and sites to pin it down to just one. I especially like the beautiful cathedrals in Europe. The Vatican was very beautiful, but crowded. It was amazing to see the Tower of Pisa, the country farms and the beautiful countryside. The ferry ride to the fishing villages on the Mediterranean was so cool. The old, winding streets of all the old cities, the architecture and craftsmanship is impressive. Not to mention the food! I've been to 8 countries in Europe, and Italy is definitely the best I've visited. And a HUGE shout out to our tour manager ALLESANDRO!!! Such a nice guy. Everything went smoothly. We were kept busy with great excursions. They included a lot of different activities which enabled us to get an amazing experience of Tuscany. The bus was available and always on time. Our guide always made instructions clear and he was a walking encyclopedia. We learned so much from him and he always had ideas and suggestions for our free time. He really cared that we were well taken care of. He was patient and accounted for all the age groups.
The personal attention from the cooking class, winery and organic cheese making farms made the events even better.
The walking was a little difficult at times but the pace was adjusted to accommodate all age levels.
Our room was bigger than I was expecting and had all the amenities we could hope for. Very clean and always came back to a tidy room.
I purchased the extra excursions to Cinque Terre. It was a really beautiful trip. The boat ride was fantastic and the views were breathtaking.
The dinner on the last night in the countryside was wonderful. The setting and the 5 courses were delicious. The only comment we had was a group of kids came to dinner that same night. We were over half way through our dinner when they arrived. Unfortunately the noise level in the restaurant did go up at that time. I guess we were noisy too, especially after a welcome glass of wine and several more with the meal. all and all it was a great last meal and a fantastic ending to. a Wonderful trip.

The only criticism of the hotel would be that since it was too early for the AC to be operational, the room lacked circulation and was stuffy. Opening the window made it quite loud late at night. I really enjoyed the "off the beaten path" places we went, places I wouldn't have gone to on my own, such as the small winery, the working farm that made their own cheeses from their own cows and goats, or the villa that produced their own balsalmic vinegar.

Don’t expect much from the people outside of your tour agents and those who are assisting with your tour. Italians are quite rude and not kind at all once they see you’re an American. The airlines lost our luggage. The lost and found agent in Florence was extremely rude and was even laughing at us in that situation. With no help from the Lost and Found, I located our luggage and with the assistance of our tour manager we were able to pick up our luggage at the airport. Our friends, who also had their luggage lost along with ours, found out that several expensive clothing items were stolen out of their bags. It takes a special level of scum from people who are supposed to be helping you, open your luggage and steal your stuff.

My most memorable experiences were the excursions purchased outside of Collette. We were very disappointed that Collette didn’t offer additional excursion especially to the Colosseum, Borghese Gallery during the 3 night pre tour. Honestly if we didn’t purchase these tickets in advance we would not have seen these two iconic sites. We loved Rome but mainly because we filled it with must do and see options not through Collette. However, our Collette guides in Rome, Francesca and Ari were fantastic.
Tuscany same thing, the towns and cities we saw were well and good but excursions, tickets, that should have been offered to complete a once in a lifetime visit to Italy were not offered as an option, and this was very disappointing. We ended up purchasing tickets for the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the crypts on our own.. Collette offered the free tour to the Basilica before 12:45pm.
No tickets or excursions offered to some of the most esteemed galleries in Tuscany and the World. Unacceptable not to see statue of David as an option.
We didn’t get to walk through Ponte Vecchio we saw it from a distance!
We were appalled at the fact we had to spend our first night at a different hotel. Because our hotel was overbooked!, Which by the way, the first night hotel was a much more accommodating and modern hotel than the Ercolini. They at least had an urn of water in the lobby with access all day long.
The dinners included were mediocre at best.
We did enjoy the beauty of Tuscan hillsides with farms and wineries. The cooking class was the most enjoyable and fun day/evening.
The wine tasting offered was not good at all even though this winery apparently received awards

Colette gave us free time at each town, usually 2-3 hours; but we needed more time to eat and shop. So, by the end we needed to pick one or the other. ABSOLUTELY recommend Colette tours!! You will not be disappointed. Arrivederci!

Wonderful tour visiting many gorgeous and fun towns/cities in Tuscany. While there is a lot of walking, especially up hills, the pacing of the trip is extremely reasonable on the whole. All of locations were beautiful, the food was quite delicious, the local guides were excellent for the most part, our bus was comfy with a fabulous driver, and our tour manager was an absolute delight. The hotel we stayed at could have been more comfortable and provided better breakfasts, but that is a very minor complaints considering how amazing the rest of the trip was.
Overall, my favorite places were Siena and San Gimignano. I extremely enjoyed the two culinary escapades - the make-your-own-dinner experience and the cheese tasting.

The whole tour was excellent, especially the tour Manager, Joanne Lemley. My most memorable experience was to Siena, and the local tour guide was very good. The hotel, Francia and Quirinale, in Montecatini was very well located, clean, spacious room with remodeled bath; the only thing that was poor were the breakfasts, few selection of and poor quality of food. It is a waste of time in Florence to have a tour to a gold and leather stores. Most of the people went on their own and avoid this tour, including us.

The tour included a wide variety of experiences including museums, guided walking tours, wine tasting, cheese tasting on a farm with goats and cows, a cooking class, light rail and train rides, a boat ride, and sitting in small cafes enjoying drinks and people watching. Loved the agritourism options and the chance to visit local farms and meet local people. Seeing Michaelangelo’s David was also a high point. And our tour manager took excellent care of us and was able to answer all our questions about Italy’s government, school system, energy production, and history.

Since this was our very first tour, we weren’t sure what to expect. We liked staying in one location and having day excursions. The assortment of towns that we visited, gave us a good experience in Tuscany. It would have been nice to have a tour in Montecatini Terme with our guide
on the first day instead of it being an option later on in the week. My favorite part was having Alberto as our guide since he was a native of Tuscany and very well-versed in its history. He really made this tour very special. We didn’t feel rushed the entire time and we were able to enjoy the sites at our own pace. I will highly recommend this tour to our friends and family.

Loved that I didn’t have to live out of a suitcase moving every few days. The tours were great and gave us ample time to be on our own for awhile. Best tour was making our own dinner cutting up vegetables for soup, making pasta, cutting ingredients for bruschetta, and making biscotti. Afterwords we had it all for dinner. A very memorable experience.

Alberto was our tour guide and was an exceptional guide because of his knowledge of the area and the history that he was well-versed in.
He really made the trip very special with his humor and knowledge as well as how he made. Everyone feel included in what we were doing. The only thing I would do different is possible figure out how there can be one full day of time on our own.
