At Collette, travel is about more than seeing the world. It's about forming meaningful connections, supporting local communities, and investing in the future of the destinations we visit. Those values are at the heart of the Impact Initiative, our microgrant program that supports the remarkable partners who bring responsible travel experiences to life on our tours. Inspired by our Impact Moments and Responsible Travel Highlights, these microgrants reward organizations that are already making a difference through conservation, cultural preservation, education, and community development.
Since launching the program, we've awarded microgrants to dozens of partners around the globe, helping them expand projects that align with our commitment to responsible travel. Many of these organizations have used their funding to create new opportunities, strengthen local economies, protect natural resources, and preserve cultural traditions for future generations.
To continue growing that impact, we’re awarding the $10,000 Impact Beyond Grant for the second year in a row. Reserved for a previous grant recipient, this award helps one partner expand a successful initiative or bring a new vision to life.
After reviewing this year's submissions, we've selected three extraordinary finalists. Now it's your turn to help decide who will receive this year's award.
Read about the finalists below and cast your vote by August 31st, 2026.
Coffee Cabana & Banana Eco Camp (Azores, Portugal)
Project: Environmental Education Centre
Located on Terceira Island in the Azores, Coffee Cabana and Banana Eco Camp combine organic farming, biodiversity conservation, environmental stewardship, and one of Europe's rare coffee-growing operations into a unique ecotourism experience. Their Impact Beyond proposal would fund the construction of a dedicated Environmental Education Centre, a solar-powered learning space built with sustainable materials and designed to welcome students, local residents, community groups, and travelers year-round. Through hands-on workshops and demonstrations focused on regenerative agriculture, sustainable coffee production, and biodiversity conservation, the center is expected to serve more than 1,500 visitors and hundreds of students annually, helping inspire future generations to embrace responsible environmental practices.

Thakafat Al-Wadi for Culture & Art (Jordan)
Project: Expanding Cultural Experiences Designed to Empower Locals in Petra
Based in Petra, Jordan, Thakafat creates immersive cultural experiences that celebrate local heritage while empowering women and families through tourism. Through initiatives such as Esra'a Kitchen, cultural workshops, craft experiences, and community-hosted encounters, the organization provides women with vocational training, entrepreneurial support, marketing guidance, and pathways to economic independence. With support from the Impact Beyond Grant, Thakafat plans to expand its network of community hosts, enhance visitor experiences, develop new heritage-based programs, and create even more income opportunities rooted in Jordanian cuisine, storytelling, and traditional craftsmanship. The project aims to strengthen sustainable tourism while allowing more local communities to benefit directly from cultural preservation and visitor engagement.

Tirimbina Biological Reserve (Costa Rica)
Project: Sustainability Discovery Experience
For more than 25 years, Tirimbina Biological Reserve has connected conservation, scientific research, environmental education, and responsible tourism in Costa Rica's SarapiquĂ region. Their proposed Sustainability Discovery Experience would transform the reserve into an immersive living classroom where visitors can explore real-world sustainability initiatives, including rainwater harvesting systems, recycling programs, native plant nurseries, Indigenous cultural exhibits, and protected rainforest ecosystems. Beyond engaging travelers, the project creates a self-sustaining funding model in which revenue generated by the experience is reinvested into free community programs, environmental education initiatives, cultural events, and local outreach efforts. By linking responsible tourism directly to community wellbeing, Tirimbina hopes to create lasting benefits for both people and nature.

Travel That Gives Back
Each of these finalists demonstrates the power of travel to create positive change. Whether they're educating future environmental leaders in the Azores, empowering women and preserving cultural traditions in Jordan, or connecting conservation with community development in Costa Rica, they're helping build a more responsible future for travel.
