Soar among the peaks of Denali National Park during this incredible flightseeing experience. Behold the South Face of Denali and the jagged peaks of Mount Huntington and Moose’s Tooth. Take in the vast expanse of the Great Gorge and make a mid-flight stop for a walk on a glacier. As you step off the plane and out into the quiet stillness, you’ll get a sense of the scale of the Alaskan Range paired with incomparable views.
River Boat Discovery with lunch
Day 3 | Fairbanks, AK
$245.00 pp
Enjoy an included lunch and then step aboard the Sternwheeler Discovery and explore the “last frontier” by river to uncover Alaska’s rich culture and history. You’ll disembark the boat and take a tour of the Chena Indian Village Living Museum to learn about the Athabascan tribe’s way of life and how they thrived in the harsh Arctic. Then, you’ll see a bush pilot demonstration as a plane takes off and lands right on the water next to the boat and hear how these pilots connect the remote destinations in Alaska to civilization. Afterward, meet the dogs and drivers at Trail Breaker Kennel, home of the late four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher. You’ll also dock at Steamboat Landing, a throwback to trading posts where you can shop for unique souvenirs. This is a 3-hour river journey you won’t want to miss.

Ended up being better than expected although was a bit more expensive. Tour guide was very good. Many interesting things to do. While a few of the accommodations were good - a couple were not the best. Fall time was beautiful time of the year to go with changing colors. Was good that we were in the 10% of visitors to get to actually see Mt Denali on our bus tour into the National Park - Wow !!

Denali Ntl Park where the Nature cooperated and we had a beautiful sunny day.
Our tour manager was excellent, showed us places even outside of the itinerary
Our group was smaller, only 28 people
We saw much more than we would have traveling on our own
This was our very first tour

Bad: Meal before Riverboat Cruise and going away meal at steakhouse - YUCK!
Overall, highly recommend to friends!

I enjoyed the visit to the Trail Breaker Kennel. The domed rail trip to Denali National Park was a wonderful experience. And of course, the glacier cruise through Prince William Sound was a highlight, especially when whales and otters were spotted. Lastly, the optional opportunity to walk on a glacier is a chance of a lifetime.

Our tour manager and bus driver were excellent. Alaska was not what i envisioned so perhaps i should have done more research. The covered wagon , which was a substitute due to a fire, was the most fun. I also liked the Denali train ride. I believe the tour is more geared to “outdoor” people which I am not.

I have two great memories for this trip. The first is being able to see Mount Denali for three straight days and taking awesome pictures of it at different angles. Also I really enjoyed my flight to Pikes Glacier, where the views were amazing and the mountains and the many glaciers go on and on and on. All the places that I went and all the people that I met we're so inspiring and friendly that I definitely would recommend this trip.

There were several things with this trip that i didnt enjoy anf i have thoroughly enjoyed Collette trips before. The musk ox farm was boring. It seemed as if they needed a filler. The hotel The Bluffs was not good. I felt like i had paid a lot of money to go to a summer camp. No air conditioning, which would have been fine if we had had windows to open, the tv didnt work, and we had no internet. I would not suggest this place. When i said something to our tour guide she acted like i was being childish. She made me feel bad for talking to her about it. I did enjoy the train with breakfast. It was very enjoyable and the glacier boat trip. Our bus driver, Levi, was excellent. He should be the tour director. Very personable and talkative. This is not a trip i would recommend.

We were totally on our own in Fairbanks. Luckily, we were able to rent a car and see all the significant places that our tour guide did not do, even though she said she would do one of them, the Visitor Center, but did not do that anyway. She seemed to do the minimum, unlike previous leaders on Collette. For example, she was not around on our various stops to take pictures.
