At Mount Vernon, in addition to visiting the mansion, you have your choice of two themed tours throughout the estate. The first option is a tour focused on the enslaved people of Mount Vernon. Learn about a typical day in the life of a slave and hear the stories of people like Hercules, Washington's Presidential cook, and Oney Judge, Mrs. Washington's personal servant. Your second option is a tour focused on the women of Mount Vernon, beginning with Martha Washinton’s life before her marriage to General Washington. This second option will also explore stories of the enslaved women who lived and worked at the estate.
