We very much enjoyed the small group tour. Tomas, our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable of every stop within the itinerary. We will definitely book with Collette again. It is impossible to to elaborate on our "favorite memorable experience" as each day was filled with such experiences. Always on my "bucket list" was to visit Auschwitz and Birkenau. How anyone can say that the Holocaust didn't happen, must visit the museum.

Our very informed guides described and showed us the architectural and political contributions of the Hapsburgs and life in Eastern Europe during and after WW2. The damage to glorious architecture of the prewar period has been miraculously restored in the cities and towns we visited.
Our guides movingly described the painful years during WW2, and life under communism. Our visits to a former Gestapo headquarters in Budapest and to Auschwicz and Burkinau were sobering. Our evening boat ride on the Danube to see the lavishly lit Budapest from the water was exhilarating. It was a most educational, thought-provoking trip.

Sebastian was the best tour manager I have ever had on a tour. He was knowledgeable, kind, easy going, readily available, and he made sure every one was taken care of. The cities we visited were wonderful but I feel we could have had more cultural and in-depth experiences. The tours tended to focus on the superficial, touristy sights. Some of the local tour guides were great but others were hard to understand. Museums were pointed out but they were never part of the tour. We did have some free time to visit museums on our own. I visited a museum rather than taking a waltz lesson or candy making. The local cultural dinner in Prague was awful. The food was ok but the music was too loud and very corny. The best local cultural dinner was our last night in Krakow at a Jewish restaurant. The group playing Klezmer music was fantastic.

as usual with Collette tours, each accommodation throughout got better - the best was last! The tour manager was engaging, informative and shared personal experiences given the tour.
The only tour which might have been "missed" was the Krakow Jewish Ghetto tour. This could be part of the overall tour instead of an additional expense.
I would STRONGLY encourage everyone to try local foods, drinks, etc. sso that you can feel more like a local. You will NOT be disappointed!

Great itinerary, fantastic tour guide and local guides, comfortable bus, great seats on the train! One area I would love to see included was the Salt Mines outside of Krakow...they were highly recommended but not included in the tour. Some city walks during the day (especially Praque) were very long and no time to take a break...a little more down time would be nice!

A great on the go tour. We saw most of the important sights and had plenty of time for us to explore on our own. We only wished that the tour included a few more excursions rather then letting us arrange them ourselves. The pace was busy, but not hectic. Expect to walk about 10,000 or more steps most days.. The few days with long bus travel was always broken up as much as practical or an interesting dinner included in the evening.

We signed up through JRM Tours. Before the tour, Janell, a Collette consultant, helped us navigate the details of our trip. She was very helpful.
Tour manager, Monika was informed, fun and went out of her way to be sure everyone was having a great experience.
The Salt Mines in Krakow were amazing. It was not included on our tour, so many of us chose to go. It would be a great addition to the regular tour.

Auschwitz is a must see as a lesson in History that is happening in the US now, by the numbers. People need to wake up and witness the absolute disregard for human life. Poland was a very clean and safe city with a proud people, loved it. Berlin taught me much about history that was not part of school teaching with communism being as bad as the Natsi control. The resolve of people after such destruction over all the countries we went through, is a different perspective from other parts of these countries which we have visited before and the war effect was different. All cities were beautiful in their own way, but there was a lot of graffiti in most of the cities which reminded me of NYC in the 70's. Overall the trip was well worth it.

This is our third tour with Collette. They are excellent overall including their customer service. The history in Eastern and Central Europe was brought to life by local tour guides with the WW II and post WW II being especially tragic yet there were many heros who helped people. The House of Terror in Budapest was incredibly interesting with the history of horror including the Communist occupation post WW II. For fun, there were many excellent meals and the beer was delicious. The Danube River cruise at night was beautiful and the stop at a farm in Bratislava was a nice break from the big cities. More time in Vienna would be better and the bus ride from Budapest to Krakow is too long and we only had 20 after arrival to get into our hotel rooms and back to the lobby for the dinner. The guide was very good, the people on the tour very fun and the cities had so much to see and do well beyond our visiting time.

I learned a lot about Central Europe during this tour. Our tour manager was superb. He was attentive to all our needs and his warm heart and compassion was clear as we got to know him personally. One criticism of a local tour guide was when she took us to the Jewish section of Krakow, she seemed to focus too much on places where the movie Schindler's list was shot rather than on the people who lived there and what they went through, what their contribution to Poland and the world had been before they were brutally killed, the help they received from righteous gentiles as well as the complicity of others in their persecution and slaughter. Otherwise, she and the other local tour guides were good at pointing out useful details. The local tour guide at Auschwitz was excellent.
