Sunny, balmy, languid, luxurious, opulent, glitzy, elegant, and chic; what other descriptors come to mind when you think of the French Riviera?

Known in France as the Côte d’Azur (pronounced koht duh·zyur), the region stretching from Saint-Tropez to Menton near the Italian border encompasses several different townships on the Mediterranean coast. With its spectacular geography, deep azure-colored waters, and mild climate, it’s easy to see why it rose to popularity in the mid-19th century as the favored resort area of worldly aristocrats, artists, writers, and the wealthy elite. It’s not the type of place you pass through on your way to somewhere else, it’s the type of place you want to BE.

This is precisely why we created Spotlight on the French Riviera, an 8-night tour that has travellers unpacking their bags just once at a boutique hotel in Nice and enjoying the region as it was meant to be enjoyed: leisurely, thoroughly, and thoughtfully.

The tour combines walking tours guided by local experts, boat rides, museum visits, and culinary tastings with plenty of free time for travellers to wander off on their own and do as they please. Like exploring the Matisse Museum, shopping in Cannes, finding a sidewalk café from which to people watch, or simply enjoying the Mediterranean views from the Promenade des Anglais.

At the centre of every Spotlight tour is one centrally located accommodation from which to explore. In Nice, for instance, travellers are within walking distance to art galleries, cafés, beaches, museums, shops, and more. For curious travellers like ours, that means they can step out of their hotel and directly into an adventure of their own design—without having to figure out public transport or pay for a cab. It’s a small advantage that makes a big difference—one that ensures you’ll be able to soak up as much of that sunny, balmy, languid, luxurious, opulent, glitzy, elegant, and chic French Riviera as you can possibly handle.
