Fantastic small group Exploration experience in Morocco with Collette. Our tour manager was efficient, personable, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The places we explored were incredible and interesting. We felt so welcome everywhere. Accommodations were spot on for the type of tour - unique to the area, clean and comfortable, not luxurious but nice. Tented camp in the Sahara Desert was an experience - mainly because of the sandstorm that left us stuck in our stifling hot tent for hours. All part of the true Moroccan adventure!

I feel that we could spend more time in historic sites, Roman Ruins, The Hassan II Mosque museum, skip the Mural of the Bab Mansour gate on the 1st optional tour with longer time on the carriage ride thru Marrakech on 2nd optional tour both of which did not reach expectations. Chosen locations for scheduled events were outstanding. Rachid enhanced our vacation with local history plus stories/tales of locales and herded our gaggle of americans thru many twists turns in the kasbah and over the wonderful dunes of the wilderness without a single mishap. Our tour manager Mohammed Merri was the best one we’ve ever had, and we’ve traveled a lot! Knowledge, language skills, empathy, flexibility, people skills all top-rate! He could easily be a diplomat in Morocco! Excellent. Brilliant to have a tour of a winery early in the tour! Alcohol not easy to come by in a Muslim country otherwise. Desert camp was great experience! Loved the involvement of the Amal NPO, and luncheon. I really liked the tour manager tipping all who needed tipping—this is an awkward and difficult thing especially if small bills are unavailable. Not so much this time. I have been to times before this tour, and really enjoyed the country. The time in the desert was miserable. Black tents made it really bad. It was a fantastic trip and the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is b/c the hotel in Casablanca & its location were substandard. I am sure you heard the same feedback from others and it should be corrected for future trips. The guide (Radouan) was super talented, courteous, energetic, patient and well informed. His driver, Mo, was equally as skilled in his trade; however, the bus did not have WiFi as promised. Other than that every aspect of the trip was superb. The rest of the hotels, restaurants, and side trips were tops. The camel ride through sections of the Sahara and the overnight stay in a luxurious tent were wonderful experiences that we will never forget.

The country, people and areas we toured were very nice, and i felt representative of the country. However, as i mentioned elsewhere, our tour manager was substituted, last minute, and we were never told about this. This still would have been fine, if Hicham were a "best trained and most experienced Manager in the industry", as Collette advertises. Unfortunately, this proved to not be true; and I feel much information that could have been given by him, was not, and this made knowing about Morocco less personal. We did have one stand-out local guide in Fes, also named Hicham (2), who was EXCELLENT! If this person is not on Collette's payroll, he certainly deserves to be...he was personable, intelligent, humorous, and totally engaging with our group - everything our regular tour manager was not! I actually had 2 favorite memorable experiences - staying at Kasbah Xaluca, Errachidia, and our camel trek and stay in the desert. Kasbah Xaluca was a dream location - the accommodations were excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast and dinner buffets varied and delicious! Would have loved to stay there an extra day to just lounge around the pool! The camel trek was everything I had dreamed it would be - Mild natured camels, excellent Berber handlers who were very friendly and helpful, and surprising accommodations - who would expect indoor flush toilets and showers with hot water out in the desert. The surrounding dunes were a photographer's dream! Will always have fond memories of both these places!
