Go beyond Andalusia’s Moorish landmarks, Barcelona’s architecture, and Madrid’s world-class art and connect with Spain’s people and culture. Decades of experience and local guides allow us to craft tours that let you feel the energy and passion that infuse life here through dancing, music, cooking lessons, home-hosted meals, and other unique experiences.
Outside major cities, small shops and family-run businesses may close for a few hours in the afternoon, typically between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. Collette plans around local schedules, so this down time becomes part of the experience instead of an inconvenience.
Regions across Spain each have distinct cultural identities shaped by their own histories, traditions, and cuisines - from flamenco in Andalusia to Gaudí’s architecture in Barcelona, Galician seafood traditions in the northwest, and Valencia’s famous paella along the Mediterranean coast. For a week-long trip, it’s often best to focus on just one region or a smaller part of the country — such as Andalusia or the Rioja and northern coast — to experience the culture more deeply without rushing through those differences.
Spain’s climate varies depending on where you travel. Andalusia and central Spain have very hot summers and comfortable winters. Northern regions tend to be cooler and greener, and coastal areas are milder year-round.

The tour was outstanding, beginning in (Lisbon) to the end (Bilbao - San Sebastián). It is difficult to pinpoint one highlight, the entire trip was highlight after highlight. After a day in Pamplona we are now encouraged to return in July for the real Running of the Bulls. We were surprised that a couple of the stops In Portugal are surfing destinations for the world’s best surfers. And the days through the Douro Valley are memorable. On and on… This was our seventh tour with Collette in the last two years and we have already booked four more through the end of next year. We go on many vacations and Collette is one of our primary providers. They provide first-class service and we appreciate them!

It was an amazing experience but most important it was a very spiritual experience especially having been blessed with our parish priest who provided us with daily mass. Even had occasions for a rosary and some fun.

View 12 - 13-Day ItinerarySpain is a year-round destination, but spring (March–May) and fall (October-November) are especially popular for guided tours thanks to comfortable temperatures and fewer crowds at major sites. These seasons are ideal for city walking tours in places like Seville, Madrid, and Barcelona. Summer departures often focus on coastal areas or northern regions, while winter travel offers a quieter experience, particularly in southern Spain. Collette schedules departures with seasonal comfort in mind.
Most Collette Spain tours are designed for travellers who are comfortable walking several miles a day at a moderate pace. Expect guided walking tours over cobblestones, standing at historic sites, and some stairs — especially at landmarks like the Alhambra or historic city centres. Activity levels are clearly listed for each tour, and you’ll have free time to rest or explore independently.
Yes. Collette tours in Spain include transport between destinations, typically by private motor coach, and on some tours, high-speed AVE trains. When possible, we make getting from place to place an experience in itself by choosing scenic routes, strategic stops, or travelling by boat.
Collette tours balance guided experiences with free time. Many days include time for you to explore on your own, relax, or join optional experiences. This gives you the benefits of expert planning and local guides, with the flexibility to do your own thing.
Food is a meaningful part of Collette’s Spain tours. Depending on the tour, travellers may enjoy tapas tastings, paella in Valencia’s Albufera region, olive oil tastings at family-owned groves, and regional wine experiences in areas like Rioja. Many meals are thoughtfully selected to let you sample local cuisine, and you'll have opportunities to dine on your own or ask your guide for recommendations.
No. Language barriers in Spain are relatively low. Many people at hotels, restaurants, and tourist attractions speaking multiple languages including English. Many travellers find learning a few basic phrases enhances the experience, but it’s not required. On Collette tours, you can also rely on your Tour Manager and local guides who speak the language so you feel confident navigating Spain even if you don’t speak the language.
Guided tours with Collette remove the complexity of planning transport, accommodation, and site access — especially in busy or historic areas. Travellers benefit from expert-led visits, cultural context, and thoughtful pacing that includes local experiences, which can be hard to plan on your own. You get to focus on enjoying Spain rather than managing logistics.
