We all love to travel and see the world beyond our own backyards. Some of us love seeing historical sites like the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Wall of China. Others enjoy a beautiful mountain view in the Rockies or the stunning rainforests of Central America. While I’m always good for a hike or swim and am a self-professed history nerd (or enthusiast, whichever you prefer), I think we can all agree that food is one of the best parts of travel.

If you’re like me and you’re hungry right at this very moment, here’s a few suggestions for your next great meal!

Scotland

Foodie Scotland

While not first on everyone’s list of places to go eat, Scotland is home to some of the world’s finest Scotch distilleries. Savor the “water of life” in the highlands and then listen to the bagpipes play at the National Piping Centre, where you’ll get to try the instrument out yourself and sit down for a farm-to-table meal – all on our Scotland: Isles of Lore & Legend tour.

France

Foodie france

On our France Magnifique tour, revel in a tour and tasting at a local winery. And dine like royalty at the 15th-century Château de Beauvois – once frequented by King Louis XIII. Delight in gourmet French cuisine in the opulent dining room of this castle where you are also staying. On this tour, savor all the French favorites—baguettes, wine, cheese, and… you know what… I gotta stop, I’m getting too hungry!

Italy

Foodie italy

I don’t know about you, but I go nuts for good pasta! In Italy, you can participate in a hands-on cooking class dedicated to Romagna’s garganelli and strozzapreti pastas on our Best of Italy tour or sample handmade limoncello at a family-owned factory in Minori on our Rome & the Amalfi Coast tour. Does anyone else feel like a plate of spaghetti and meatballs with a glass of Chianti right now? Just me? Okay…

Spain

Foodie spain

There’s nothing quite like a big plate of paella in Spain which you can taste on our Spain’s Classics and Portugal tour! Perhaps you might also try a tapas lunch or savor a glass of wine while gazing out at the Mediterranean. With spices and wine to spare, be sure to make Spain a stop on your next culinary outing.

Morocco

Foodie morocco

Just down the Strait of Gibraltar, a special dining experience awaits in the western sands of the Sahara Desert. In the city of Marrakech, you will get to select the ingredients for your own personal dinner at a local women’s cooperative. Then, journey into the desert via 4x4 jeep and camel (yes, camel) to meet with a Nomad family and sample a traditional meal with them. Up for a little culture and fun in the desert? Be sure to join our Colors of Morocco tour!

If all these places make your stomach growl like an angry lion, don’t worry—you’re in great company! Any one of these incredible tours will give you the best taste of the local flavor.
