Our two-week tour started in Lisbon, went North to the Duoro valley, and ended in Bilbao, Spain. Along the way we toured a lot of lovely northern Portuguese and Spanish cities, sampled a number of wines, and were enchanted throughout by our fabulous tour guide, Sergio Palma, a native of Lisbon with perfect English. Accommodations were excellent for the most part, and all provided meals exceeded expectations. Our bus was roomy and fellow travelers were friendly and all got along. This was a thoroughly fabulous trip!

I would consider this a pretty in-depth visit to Portugal and Spain. Loved all that I learned about food and wine and culture. I loved that we went to some not as well known parts of Spain such as the Rioja Valley. We thoroughly enjoyed this trip.

The tour was a great balance of included activities and free time. It was a very delicious introduction to the flavors of Portugal and Spain - the traditional foods, the wine, the culture. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient. The lodgings were very-well located for exploring each of the cities. Highly, highly recommend!

The tour was wonderful. Our tour manager, Javier, was funny and cheerful and extremely organized. I didn't know anything about the Duoro Valley and found it to be one of the most beautiful wine regions I've seen. The trip included many wonderful meals and my favorite was the one that took place in the home of a Portuguese family. Not only did they serve us a wonderful traditional meal but they made us feel welcome as if we were friends. The entire tour was fun and informative and definitely good value for the cost.

The days were well planned and local guides all very knowledgeable. I enjoy small villages, so my favorite day was touring the coastal villages west of San Sebastián. They were scenic and relaxed in tone. My suggestion for hotels is adhering to bed preferences listed. We 2 women asked for twin beds, but twice were given a room with one queen bed. I also greatly appreciate coffee set ups in the room, and not all hotels provided this.

My most memorable experiences were in Lisbon and San Sebastian, We had three days in each one and it made a big difference in getting use to exploring on our own, as they both became familiar to us. I loved being able to walk part of the Camino de Santiago. The tour included that option and it was such a beautiful section. Finally, Pamplona was so amazing when we got to visit the bull-fighting museum in a private home. We felt so special to have that exclusive opportunity. P.S. the food and people were so wonderful, it truly made the whole trip!

The vist with a Portuguese family, an optional excursion , for appetizers, wines and dinner was exceptional! So glad we decided to go. Also the Douro wine region which was beautiful. All the wine tasting were great as well as the Port tasting in Porto. Lots of nice things to do. Salamanca was wonderful and Paloma was an education. Our guide, Pablo, was fun and efficient and thoughtful. All in all it was a great experience. The small group (23) we were with, was perfect. We got to know a great group of people!!

Loved that we had a great balance between free time and tours. There was enough time to explore areas our own. My most favorite experience was interacting with the other members of the tour. Also the wine barrel experience was amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I did wish that the dining experiences offered a few more choices of main course for those that don't like fish or meat (maybe some chicken options). The other disappointment was there was supposed to be an additional wine tasting and a farm to table dinner, which our tour director knew nothing about. We were looking forward to that.

Absolutely memorable tour. Excellent guide. Favorite places include the Quinta de Pacheca. A beautiful place with excellent restaurant. Food was so good that we had dinner at the restaurant two nights. Duoro River valley was most memorable. We enjoyed Salamanca for its history and beauty. Great places to eat pinxtos and wonderful Rioja Wines. Loved Pamplona. We had wonderful tour of home of bull fighter aficionado and bull arena. Final stop in San Sebastian was idyllic and beautiful. Highly recommend this tour

Duoro river valley & wine country - beautiful countryside. Excellent tour manager and driver; added a whole lot to our tour. Loved the group we were with and learnt a whole lot about Portuguese food and Port Wine production. However, I encourage you to make your own air travel arrangement to & from, for your own comfort and routing, with meet & greet at the arrival airport. Do not go with Collette arrangements, not worth the bargain airfare.
