Stand before Victoria Falls, spot wildlife on safari, barter at local markets, and explore Lake Kariba by private boat. With decades of safari tour experience, Collette thoughtfully combines natural wonders, land and water safaris, and cultural moments that bring you closer to the places and people you visit.
Visit Zimbabwe February through May if you want to hear Victoria Falls at its most thunderous, when Mosi oa-Tunya — “the smoke that thunders” — lives up to its name. For the best safari conditions, visit June through October.
Zimbabwe’s food is hearty and full of flavour. Look for sadza, a thick maize meal porridge often served with stews or vegetables, dovi, a peanut butter stew typically made with chicken, and kapenta, small sardine-like fish. Adventurous travellers may even try mopane worms.
The best safari experiences respect local people and wildlife. Collette builds responsible travel into our tours through Impact Moments, animal welfare guidelines, and conservation-focused visits where travellers learn through experiences that support local communities and wildlife.
Senior Product Design Manager
I grew up in South Africa and have been in the tourism industry for more than 30 years. Uncovering Africa's beauty is my passion. We design our own itineraries, and hand-pick safari lodges and experiences. A lot goes into planning a safari. We want travellers focused on the moment, not the logistics. We plan it all out to the letter.

This tour exceeded all my expectations! I must admit I was very Leary going into it because booking with Collette was NOT easy. The safaris were amazing, the accommodations top notch and we couldn’t have asked for a better tour manager! So many unexpected experiences!

We lucked in to good guide, good copmpanions and good weather. The last hotel was lacking but fine. Needed more tip money than I had been advised.

My favorite memorable experience was when the large elephant walked up to our boat paused then walked past us in peace. My least favorite thing about our tour guide was him talking about politics with an unfavorable attitude. He only need give the facts and leave personal opinions or tones at home. Also when he was dissapointed in the accomidations he should have talken the employee aside and worked things out instead of doing it front of everyone. It made many uncomfortable.

My tour was beyond my expectations. We saw all the big 5! Remarkable!! An average of 2 safaris a day.. also some water safaris.. Accommodations were great.. There we could see animals far away and up close. I enjoyed all the meals there very much. There were restaurants with entertainment…One we could participate in.. we had our own drums at our seat. A favorite was eating in the home and having conversations with different families.

From start to finish, this is one of my absolute favorites from Collette. From the bush of Botswana to the mighty Victoria Falls and the beauty of Table Mountain to the enticing wine country of Stellenbosch, it’s an incredible tour brought to life by a tour manager from South Africa. You learn first hand what growing up in Africa is like from apartheid to present. From the beautiful people to the up close encounters with wildlife, it’s the greatest adventure on earth!

Fantastic trip all around. I was very satisfied with the 5 days of safari with the rest of the days being sightseeing, wine country and Victoria Falls. It was a great combination, and every day was a new adventure! We loved it and our tour guide, Shouab (sp?) was fantastic. He took care of our every need and then some. Favorite memorable experience was of course, the safari and seeing the animals. Maybe my most favorite was watching the elephants cross the Chobe River near sunset as well as an elephant drinking from the swimming pool at the Black Rhino Lodge. What an amazing experience.

This tour was amazing start to finish. The transportation - the tour guide - the places we visited - the care and attention to detail - the accommodations - the food - couldn't ask for more!

Everything was the best it could be - trip of a lifetime. The guide (Andrew Penn) made it that much more enjoyable. The hotels/lodges were fantastic. Travel was easy (small group). Highly recommend!

The most memorable experience on our tour were all of the animal sightings. We came to see the ‘big 5’ and we saw them and many more.

The mother lioness with 3 cubs hidden in a bush was amazing - she wanted to go hunt to feed them but one kept coming out of the bush to follow her.

The whole trip was top notch the whole way!! Our tour guide was the best, he was so knowledgeable and did all he could do to make the trip memorable. I would recommend this trip and Collette in particular for all travel arrangements!

Everything was done well, I would recommend the food served in the Iganyana tented camp be buffet rather that plated and there was massive food waist. All other meals and accommodations were excellent. The most memorable experience for me was the personal attention our tour guide made with each venue. He made sure we met and enjoyed his county and people. Chello made everything we did just a little more fun. and I learned a great deal about Africa and the people.

The game drives with excellent game guides. I also enjoyed the family meals in local homes. Our tour guide was excellent.

The tour guide, Titus, made the trip especially fantastic. His knowledge, his care, and his availability was outstanding. He not only shared the land, he shared the culture.

The trip was everything and more than I expected. My emergency Was handled very well considering how far out in the middle of no where we were. Every place we stayed the people working there were exceptional. The accommodations were great. Our guide Titus was very informative about the people and the country.

Staying in the game reserves!

Sitting in the moonlight in silence while a hurd of elephants grazed around our jeep, or riding through the bush, clusters of impala nearby and giraffe piercing the African sky as a lion walked through the dust in bothered by breathless humans. Which of these experiences or twenty others was the best? I can’t choose. But perhaps it was the people, visiting the fish camp of Tonga speaking people and bringing them gifts of cornmeal and salt or learning their history at the Apartheid Museum.
