Loved our time spent in Edinburgh, plenty of time to explore, enjoy and even find Outlander sites Also was impressed by the stop in Vandana, experiencing the remain of a Roman Fort. Loved our stop in Wales to have a Proper Tea. Wasn't impressed with Oxford, would rather have skipped the stop to see more of London. No free time to explore London.

I have 2 experiences to share: Lorraine handled frustrating and difficult situations with grace and good humor. 1 Frustration: I shared this with my family... Our tour guide is a hoot. She gives subtle messages in a kind way. She has been getting the same questions asked over and over again. So this morning (about half way through the tour), she announced to the bus, that we each only get one question a day and there 's 32 of us. She then went on to say, "Bill, you have already asked 47 questions so no one gets any more questions today." We all had a good laugh, but we also got the message. And yes, we have a control freak on our tour. 2 Difficult Situation: We had lunch at Traitor's Gate (part of our tour) and the hostess/waitress was downright rude; I believe it was because we were late arriving. Lorraine did a great job controlling the situation. Kudos to Lorraine!

The tour was excellent. We loved the military tattoo especially but was disappointed in the accommodations in Scotland and London. The chain was Mercure. In Edinburgh we did not have hot water and in London we felt the hotel was dated and dingy. The rest of the hotels on the hotel were super. I also wished we had more time in Wales.

Because our last name starts with a W, I feel that many times our room did not compare to other rooms. I can make this statement because my sister, whose name starts with an H, consistently had a nicer room. We paid as much as everyone else and feel we should have been treated the same. One room had a bed with a mattress that slanted making it difficult to get confortable.

I know we were on a schedule but I would have enjoyed more free time in Scotland to explore. Scotland in general was my favorite part of the trip and I didn’t get to see nearly enough of it! Because of that, I am hoping to return for a trip that is based strictly in Scotland at some point. I will give the tour mgr credit for being knowledgeable but her overall attitude and willingness to work with her group was sorely lacking. And her organizational skills were practically nonexistent. Local guides were accommodating and excellent. I cannot say that for the tour manager. I could write pages about our tour manager but I don’t want to take the time. Just let it be said that she was not the best manager given the situation. Our bus driver, on the other hand, was excellent.. I have been on bus tours where I felt like I was seeing my life flashing before me because I felt unsafe in the hands of the driver. That was not the case with Ryan. I felt totally comfortable with him behind the wheel.. Most of our accommodations were too small. Not enough room for 2 people and luggage as well. Best accommodations as far as size and quality were Chester and London. All rooms were nice and clean but the space was sorely lacking. I realize the rooms are a landing place and used primarily for sleeping but it should be said that it’s also a place to rest between day and evening outings as well as the space to get ready for the day which was hard to do in the space offered.

We had a very lovely time. The only reason I’m giving Collette 4 stars is because our guide wasn’t up to date on Covid guidelines in each country we visited. Don’t get me wrong. She spent hours on the internet trying to figure out what forms were needed for entering France. I realize that guidelines are changing rapidly; however, Collette should have made sure that our guide was briefed before our tour.

The number of participants was way too large and detracted from the experience. Considerable time was used unloading and reloading the bus as well as managing such a large group at comfort stops and sights. I traveled with Collette in a group under 25 in the past and my experience was much better. I would be more than willing to pay an increase in costs for a smaller group size. It had nothing to do with the skills of the tour guide or driver. In fact given the large number, the tour manager was exceptional in her duties, in managing such a large group. My room at Ruthin Castle had a water leak above my bed, castle manager gave me a bucket for the leak. Possibly rethink this location. The last accommodation, Indigo Hotel, in Stratford Upon Avon, was a total delight. That’s a keeper! Susan Ore answered emails prior to the start of the trip and provided valuable sight seeing information for my pre trip in London. I consider this a special touch for a travel agency when a tour guide goes above and beyond their duties. I would travel with Susan again!

I also liked seeing Stonehenge. That was an amazing experience. We did have a problem with two of the hotels. The Doubletree in York was filthy. I had to clean my room before I could put my things on the dressers! The Dalmahoy was way too far from town. We wasted so much time in traffic! It was hard to navigate and had inadequate bathrooms. Tour was well planned out as far as what to see. Instead of walking around York to look at bars they could of taken us into the York Minster Cathedral. Could of gone into Westminster Abbey. Our Tour Manager was very knowledgeable, BUT was very unorganized. When left to go to the airport to go home From time we got to airport in London, we had about 45 min. to go thru security, to gate, etc. They should allow more time

I loved the tour in Edinborough Scotland. The castle, Holyrood, and the dinner were great. Since you don't provide space for criticism, I am adding it, here. The average age is over 65. If you are going to get us up early and run all day, it might be wise to have earlier dinners. People were exhausted. Also, the farewell dinner should not be on the last night, but the night before, so everyone can pack and relax before flying home. I have other suggestions, but, I think you don't want to hear them.

Everything on this tour was great. Our Group Leader was helpful and kept us informed and if there were changes to the itinerary he let us know in plenty of time and explained our options. The hotels were comfortable and the provided meals were excellent. Some of the hotels were "quaint" but they were usually located near restaurants and shopping. The Ruthin Castle was a grand experience even though it was a bit off the beaten path. The peacocks were awesome! The most memorable experience was riding through the Lake District. The green fields and grazing sheep were the quintessential experience of the English countryside.

The tour did not allow enough time in London; we needed at least one more day. We came a day early and that helped. The locations we visited were well planned and the Tour Guides for the specific locations were very good, especially the one in Edinburgh (Sheilla). All the accommodations were clean and were in good locations. The one in London was too small, but in good location. The food ranged from very good to excellent.

I missed the entire London portion of the trip due to airline issues so I cannot speak to that. Edinburgh was the best. I enjoyed how there was group activities as well as explore on your own time. 1000 miles is a lot to cover and the coach time was excessive, but gave us time to nap. I appreciated stopping every couple of hours for toilets and stretching legs. Stratford -Upon - Avon was a waste of time, unless you were a die-hard Shakespeare fan. It was a real down way to end a otherwise delightful tour. I wish we could have spent more time in Wales or the Lakes District. Time in Ruthin felt rushed. Drop off bags, 45 min til dinner, then a presentation gave us little time to explore the grounds or town at all. Then back on the bus first thing in the AM. Add another night there and drop a night it Stratford. York was amazing! The perfect stop! arrive, walk about with tour guide, afternoon to explore on own, then dinner out (optional excursion I HIGHLY recommend), with enough time to pop in the pub on the way back. Edinburgh was lovely and I adored staying in the old part of town. (Some goes for the London property). Plenty to see and do. (Don't let them pressure you into spending the extra money for the "Scottish Night Out" you can get Haggis most anywhere and for a lot less than $160! Another plus of the tour was that we did not have to wait in line for tickets for places like the castle, Stonehenge, etc. and the local tour guides were fantastic. So much history to learn and ours (Ann took us off the high a bit and gave us some real local color - much obliged for that!

The trip was well organized and ran effectively throughout the tour. The tour manager and bus driver were knowledgeable and professional; we always knew we were in good hands and what to expect each day. The city tours in London and Edinburgh were good overviews but we didn't have time to go to many places we saw and learned about in passing. London was busy at this time of year so lines were long to The Westminster Abbey and other places we would have enjoyed visiting in the afternoon. In Edinburgh, we were able to walk down The Royal Mile and visit some sites about which we learned on the tour. York was a delightful city with interesting history and great food, especially The Sunday Roast with Yorkshire Pudding, only available on Sunday, of course. We enjoyed the Castle in Ruthin and seeing the beautiful countryside with rolling hills and sheep. We enjoyed the Avon River Cruise, seeing Shakespeare's home, and walking around Stratford-upon-Avon and were especially glad we chose to see a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theater. Going to Stonehenge was definitely memorable although it was a long day of driving. Overall, the trip was well organized and we saw a lot; now we can go back to the places we enjoyed most for a more in-depth experience if we choose. I can't say enough about how knowledgeable our tour manager was; she gave us information about the history, the economy, the agriculture and other businesses, famous people who lived or worked in certain cities, and told interesting tidbits about the countries we visited.

Some of the meals were just ok, some were excellent, and all of the included experiences were pretty good. My favourite tour was the walking tours in Cambridge and York, our locally guided walking tour in Edinburgh from the Castle to the Palace and our trip to Stonehenge. I loved the beautiful scenery when we were driving on the scenic routes. My least favourite optional was the Scottish Experience - I found it crowded and the caterer didn't seem to care about allergies and as a result I was ill following this dinner. The best optional was the "beer tasting" in York - the food and beverage were excellent, as were the hosts, and they were very accommodating.

She had so much knowledge, and if there was a question she didn't automatically know the answer to, she made sure to get back to you with as much detail as possible. She kept the trip on schedule, yet fun and entertaining. There was a lot to do, but none of it was mandatory so if you found something else you were interested in or wanted to take a day to relax, there was no pressure to do otherwise. The tour was fantastic with great events and plenty of time to indulge in exploring my interest. Accommodations and the food were enjoyable. The guide in England, Scotland was personable and dependable. He added a lot of fun and information to the trip. The driver was also a plus. There were a few concerns. Tubs and showers were slick and dangerous. If you asked for a mat, you were told that the hotel had none available. Transportation was provided to several events but not provided for the return to the hotel at night. Walking felt unsafe especially when the group stretched out due to the differences in the speed of walking. At times I could not see the leader or any of the group ahead of us to know which way to go. Eventually Dan and slower people caught up, and I felt safe again. The transportation to the airport in Paris was over an hour late. I carried a CPAP which took extra time and I had to repack to leave security. When I turned to go, I did not see any of my group. I knew the gate and found it with help from kind travelers. Dan was waiting at the gate. The plane was held 15 minutes. I made it on, but the event was stressful. Two of our group did not make the plane. I was seated between 2 men, one of which was huge. He asked for help and offered to pay for an up grade but the stewardess refused telling him no empty seat doubles were available and that he should have paid ahead of time to upgrade. It appeared he was being taught a lesson. I was punished too. The 9 hour flight was very uncomfortable . He was nice and let me out several times, but I could not move. At my age with contracting muscles, I have to move to avoid stiffness and pain. Several of the hotels were hot even at night when the air was cool. At times opening the window helped, but some were difficult to open enough to cool the room. Despite this I loved the trip and will travel with your company again. You can’t control some of the concerns. I just wanted you to know.

My favorite experience was in Stratford upon Avon visiting Shakespeare’s home. In London, our guided tour was on the bus and outside in the rain, so thankfully, we had added an extra day in London and were able to book tours on our own of Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. Our Tour Manager did her best to keep everything organized and assist with special needs. Unfortunately, she had sprained her ankle badly prior to the trip and and had difficulty keeping up. She was kind, experienced and funny, but also extremely obese and along with the ankle issue, clearly suffered at times. I would definitely recommend the trip. Perhaps leaving out the stop at Vindolanda. It was very interesting, but difficult to keep up with the guide and we all missed seeing the indoor museum as it was time to get back on the bus.

When we arrived our tour guide was supposed to take us by sites (Notre Dame, Arch de triumph) which we did not see. When we got to the hotel we had to wait for our luggage to be unloaded so that we could take it up to our rooms. We had a tour that started late that didn’t take into account bathroom breaks. The Roman ruins of Vindolanda were historically fascinating, as was Bath. Walking on the wall around the walled city of York was a highlight for me. Touring Oxford University was also a highlight. Glad I narrowed it down for you.

Loved the beautiful towns and castles. Learning the history of each area was important to me. I fell in love with the people and the countryside more than the cities. Having tea at The Dome was really a special event as well. My favorite event was the evening with bagpipes and dancing. We got to sing along and it was very special to me.

The inclusion of a stay at a holiday inn express was sub-standard. This hotel was far below what I expected to be staying at on this tour for the price I paid. Room was not dirty, but accommodations and furniture far below what I expected given the price. Room was far too small, furniture was cheap, and it was on the outside of the city. There were any number of hotels that appeared to be more in line with the other hotels we stayed at and were closer to the city center. I felt like I got ripped of staying here. The Mercier in London was not in line with the tour meal accommodations. Breakfast was sub-par. Hot foods were cold. In addition, the Resturaunt associated with the hotel was not open for lunch and the hotel did not allow any food to be brought into the hotel from carry out places across the street. Need to do one or the other: provide lunch or allow guests to use lobby eating tables. All excursion guides were very knowledgeable. Tour manager was extremely informative and provided very good recommendations related to personal time exploring and food.

The tour was amazing. Just a couple ideas - Would have been nice the first night to have people introduce themselves or wear nametags. I feel like we didnt know each other. And maybe have some type of white board to have each day's instructions on like time to be on the bus. The tour manager would update this instead of having to repeat it every evening.

Our guide was great. My only bad experiences had more to do with the hotels themselves and not Collette. Multiple hotels were dirty and I had to clean the toilet prior to using it. At one, it was the toilet, then what appeared to be black mold growing on the blanket, and lipstick on the glasses at the bar. At another, my luggage was gone through and 3 pairs of my dirty ******* were missing. At another the ceiling was leaking and dripping on us as we entered the building and took the escalator up to the lobby.

The British Landscapes tour provides the traveler with a broad overview of Scotland, Wales and England. You see a lot, but none of it in detail. You get to see several cities, but just briefly in some cases. You do get to experience quite a variety if activities. We got to finally try haggis while in Scotland (it's very good, sort of like a mild sausage mixed with oatmeal). Our tour director, Rob Lippitt, was fantastic! He provided a daily "Surprise and Delights" candy treat each day which were iconic Scottish and British candies and cookies. He explained their history before distributing them to us. The other people on the tour were a very interesting group of folks, mainly from the US and Canada. Starting the tour as strangers, we left as friends with many of them. There was much talk about getting together with those that lived in the same region of the country as others. In summary, this tour is an excellent way to get a broad overall view of the country. We didn't get to see all that we wanted to see, but it gave us a great insight into what we want to come back and see in future vacations.

Tish, our Tour Manager, did a great job, given the challenges she had to face. I enjoyed the places we visited but was disappointed that we did not see Hadrian's Wall, especially as it had been part of the itinerary. I don't know why we didn't get there. The hotel in Chester that was under renovations; the hotel should not have been offered. People getting stuck in the elevator and another not having hot water, that's unacceptable. I think Stratford-Upon-Avon was my favorite and would have liked to have stayed there longer. Despite the hotel issues in Chester, I loved visiting there. Oxford was interesting, but I was disappointed by our tour guide on the walking tour. And in London, I hate to say it, but the cab driver we had gave us more information about London than our tour guide did. But who doesn't love London? York was wonderful to wander around. Our tour guide, Fiona, at Edinburgh Castle, was the best tour guide! I enjoyed having time to wander around the towns/cities we visited. The best part of this trip for me, was making wonderful, new friends.

One glaring problem - on our bus, one client was coughing continuously. I clearly informed our tour manager and requested they either wear a mask or get off the bus. I was told the cougher refused. My concerns were not taken seriously. As a result both my wife and I are still sick and coughing 2 weeks after our return home. I know of at least 5 others who got sick - I strongly suspect that there are many others. This is simply unacceptable and clearly impacts the future likelihood of a repeat booking. In my opinion the tour manager has the responsibility and requires the authority, within reasonable limits, to attend to the health and safety of your clients. Bluntly, the concerns of 30+ clients outweighs the selfishness of one cougher. I respectfully request feedback concerning my above comments. Thank you ML Sheffer

The tour provided an excellent overview of the United Kingdom. I had never been there before, but having such an good experience made me feel at home. Would have liked more time in London. That was the only location I felt rushed since there were so many places to see. Did not have a chance to go into St. Paul's Cathedral or Westminster Cathedral, only saw them from outside. Really liked staying in Ruhin Castle. I was concerned that we would be staying in a separate building on the castle grounds, but our rooms were in the actual castle. Walking on the Royal Mile and touring the Edinburgh Castle was a memorable experience. The most moving experience was seeing Stonehenge.

Liked the stop we made in a little town that had Shakespere grave, the little cafe was great. When we were on the coach going from town to town enjoyed the countryside and all the sheep, it was so wonderful. Liked staying in the Rutin Castle .

We had a great trip even though we missed the first two days due to airline delays - Collette was great and made sure we caught up to our group.
